        Hi lawyers,

I am getting married soon as per Hindu rituals and I want to obtain the marriage certificate. I have the following questions

        1. Until when can I register for certificate after marriage?

        2. Can I register for certificate in another state? Me and my partner will stay in a different state than the state where we will get married.

        3. How to get the marriage certificate?

        TIA

U can register it any when and anywhere as long as u can provide a current address proof in that district.

U need to gather some documents- marriage affidavit/declaration. It should be notarised or signed by oath commissioner and it should clearly mention dob, date, first marriage etc etc. u can find formats online. Then u need age proofs, wedding cards, photo of wedding, photo identity and address proofs.

Nowadays it’s all online and most states have their own dedicated portal for application.
