SMy neighbor aunties, one Hindu and other Muslim go for walk in the morning. And there are these two Muslim men who harass them for coming out of the house and not staying home. They have a problem with the Muslim ( her husband doesn’t have a problem) going out with the Hindu woman.
The problem with them is the Hindu woman and her two kids have kicked the father out of the house because they had domestic violence issue and didn’t take care of the children. They have separated for quite some time. Now that the kids are 30+ and they take care of the household expenses and mother. They are good family and because of father they can’t live comfortably in the society, plus the father spreads rumors about them to gain sympathy from the society.
I’m not targeting any community here, the neighborhood I live is very small and narrow minded. Still no one else has harassed them the way these men are doing.
Now it has come to a point where these Muslim men publicly shame these women. They can’t even go out early in the morning comfortably for a walk.
Is there anything that can be done without involving the police, because the police here will support the men because one of the men has a local business and he has made quite a name.
I want to know if I can help as a bystander in any way ?

Rask those women to file harassment case. First its important to secure some proof of their behavior. audio can be recorded by women and video can be taken from distance

There are good as well as fucking ass ppl on both the sides.

NThere’s actually nothing Hindu or Muslim about this story, don’t understand why OP focused on religion here. Its actually a domestic issue stemming from the separated couple. Both these Muslim men seem to be friends with the Hindu husband and hence they want to isolate the Hindu wife from her friends. It’s a case of pure harassment. Both these women can file a police complaint against these men for harassment.

AMaybe because OP lives in a conservative neighborhood and the Muslim uncles deem it “uncultured” for women to step out of the house without a male family member – ala Afghanistan.

NIt really doesn’t seem so. The Muslim aunty’s husband has no issue with that so why do these 2 random men care. The OP has mentioned it’s related to the domestic dispute between the other aunty and her husband.

AOh boy. You’ve not seen videos or radical Hindus and Muslims confronting women and questioning why they are seen strolling with men outside their religion? There are ton of these handles on FB and IG that post such videos.

NYou are talking about radicals confronting young girls and boys because of “love jihad” which totally different from this. These are 2 old aunties with grown up kids being stopped from hanging out because one aunty has a matrimonial dispute with her husband. I practice divorce law and this stuff is super common.

AMaybe cos I have Muslim friends whose parents don’t believe in this dogma, but that is not the case with their other relatives. I’ve seen both sides of the coin and was not making a commentary on religious beliefs, but dogmatic views that a certain section of the population (irrespective of religion) still holds.

UYes because as you can see have a problem with the Muslim woman going with the Hindu woman. How can they explain that without mentioning which community the men (that are quite literally harassing them) are from?
Some people can never see anything beyond religion and then project that on the other person only. Double standards.

UOp has specifically mentioned how ‘the men don’t want the Muslim woman to go out with the Hindu woman. (Although his husband doesn’t have a problem with it). Without mentioning the religion how would op mention this?

ULet me try to explain again.
Op has mentioned these uncles are harassing these women. Now we can assume it is through their words and actions (most probably not touching) so from this we can assume that they are using derogatory language. By this Op must’ve heard some derogatory remarks and therefore has clearly written the same. I don’t understand what your issue is? Clearly op has seen the situation and that’s why has mentioned what they have.

NThat’s actually how OP has positioned the story , but if you read carefully it’s nothing to do with bringing bad name to any community and more to do with the fact that the Hindu lady and her kids have kicked her husband out of the house due to domestic abuse. It’s also mentioned that the Hindu husband is hell bent on troubling his wife and spoiling her reputation so these harassing men seem to be friends of the husband.

UKinda are. I know people don’t agree to this becouse we have low gdp and poverty still. Buy USSR had these problems too and China have too as economic growth is only concentrated to Hans of eastern side. But still considered super power. Only diffrence with India is that India is not a leftist communist regime, so won’t get the excuse, which is good as it would motivate to strive harder

UI don’t agree with the advise, this is not the issue of religious harassment. This is 2 men harassing 2 women as they feel ex husband of one of them was wronged.
Involving rss and those goons will make it religious issue and make people sympathise with the group of goons who are definitely not helping unless their agenda is pushed.

H1) Give a warning to Them first to stop doing it
2) if they don’t budge with warning report them to police for eve teasing and sexual harrasment, make sure you have enough witness and proofs to backup.If you have CCTV installed in society which can capture uninvited interaction that would be good start.
