So I will start from scratch. I worked in a company for 2 months and at the time of documentation there was a column to be filled with a cancelled cheque but at that time I didn’t had a chequebook so I googled any random cheque and filled the documents.

Now when my first salary was credited obviously I did not receive the amount and I was confused and frustrated as how my hard earned money is not credited after 7 days also whereas Everyone received there. So after some confirmation my HR told me the salary was processed in an NGOs account ( whose cheque i applied)I know that was dumb AF move ๐Ÿ˜”.

Then I somehow found the number of the NGO and contacted them and firstly they denied that there was no such amount received by them and I insisted so they checked and the amount was there

Now the real trouble begins i pleased them to return the amount they said they will but as you would’ve guessed the world is not so kind so they demanded various proofs and documents to verify that I am genuine that I provided without any exuses first from my side and after some from my HR side. I kid you not I was so angry dealing with that NGO person he talks to me like I am a criminal and have done some horrendous deed but that aside he was not cooperating at all.

Then he demanded a refund request from the head of the company which I somehow managed to get after getting a earfull of scoldings.

After sometime when I contact him later he told me he handover the matter to police and they will call for verification but I didn’t receive any call so I demanded form him that tell me the name of branch of police station I will call them myself for verification but then he said verification was done and he will refund the amount as soon he receives a chequebook. Shocking right? NGO not having a chequebook but I also tolerated that the real joke comes here he told me he applied for chequebook on 27th Jan and did not receive till a week ago . And now he is demanding an email from the company’s email that will not be possible as I have resigned from that company in December and even if I was still in the company I don’t think email would’ve been send to them from the company’s official email.

So the case is they want me to get frustrated and lose the hope eventually so that they can keep the money and demand new documents whenever I call or contact even after everything is already verified them but I really need that money.

The amount was something around 10,000-11,000 I know it’s not so much but it really matters to me because I have to pay my college fees by myself and don’t want to be a burden on my mother that’s why I did that job but my one silly mistake ruined everything ๐Ÿ˜” i am in constant guilt and feel like shit that even after done hard work by money was never received by me

Today I talked to my HR and he was very frustrated and I understand that he already helped me as much as possible and I am really losing hope now .

So my question is can I take any legal action or if anyone of you can help or give me any advice. I will be forever grateful ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

You really think this was a silly mistake? Bro. Legal pay documents are to be filled out in honesty for a reason. You are troubling someone nonstop for your fuck up. Accept that the money is gone, and use this as a valuable life lesson.

I completely agree with you and I learned the lesson the hard way but I am not going to give up on the amount as i already explained my situation in the post.

I agree it was my mistake but is there not a bit of humanity left in people that they at least give the money back which was transferred to them by mistake. I am even ready to compensate for the mistake with some amount.

But this is just consequences for your own actions, sending to a different UPI or mixing up bank account numbers is considered a mistake. Falsifying cheque book numbers by googling is fucking around and finding out.

It is not as simple as straight forward as you think, especially with NGOs. This involves lot of work from accounts and finance dept to show it under current header and this might need justification to income tax dept or any other red tape in the country and that compliance cost will be more than the total fuckd up amount. even if it returned, this will cascade a lot of tds, pf or other transactions that triggered. you deserve it.

You are saying that I let them keep the amount?

I doubt you resigned yourself, most likely you were forced to resign or fired which is totally the right move from the company who hired you.

careless people should be shown the door.

Contact your bank and ask for a charge back. They will speak with the NGO and followup for you. If NGO does not do it they have a process to force reverse the trxn if the money is still there in the account.

I don’t have any hope from the bank. I will handle the matter on my own. Just here for some advice ( if applicable)

Alone you can just follow up with the NGO, nothing to advise here.

Bank will be able to reverse charge your trxn. Just the take case to them who the actual benefactor was and how you made this mistake. You will need to escalate it up their management chain, but this is doable.
