Motorcycle insurance claim rejected

Hello people,

I needed guidance regarding ICICI Lombard insurance claim. It was rejected due to customer negligency.

Vehicle : Honda two wheeler CB350
Insurance company: ICICI Lombard
Issue: Rear tyre rim bent due to pathole on the road at 50km.
Reason of rejection: Customer negligency saying that rear tyre pressure was not set.

It could cost me 8k to 9k.

Please suggest me what should I do next?

Did the insurance surveyor actually checked the tyre pressure physically? If so…how many days after the incident did he checked it?

So incident happened on 9th March after then I tried to fill air inside tyre because I felt there is a tyre puncture after 200 meter of that pathole. But when it was not possible due to rim was bent and gap was created where the air was coming out. And tyrewala told me there is rim bent so can’t fill the air. I reported this on 11th March.

Request a Written Rejection Letter
• Ask the insurance company to provide a formal rejection letter mentioning the exact policy clause under which your claim was denied.

. File a Grievance with ICICI

Escalate to Insurance Ombudsman
• If ICICI Lombard does not resolve your issue, you can file a complaint with the Insurance Ombudsman.

Social Media & Consumer Forums
• Sometimes, posting on ICICI Lombard’s official Twitter or Facebook page helps in getting a quicker resolution.
• You can also file a complaint on consumer forums

I have asked their manager to write me in email about rejection so I can move further. But neither they are mailing me or replying my calls now.

Just keep sending reminder an at last escalate to insurance obd with mails sent to Lombard

What a lame fucking reason to reject a claim. Get the rejection letter and escalate further. If that doesn’t work, complain to the ombudsman. That should work.

Here you go. Go through all the escalations properly. And only after there’s no resolution is provided, go to the ombudsman.
