March 29, 2025 at 8:39 amWe possess a commercial property situated in Bihar. The total area of the land would be nearly 1800 sqft and the built-up area would be 900.The guy from the tax collector came and said that there are dues from 2017 because of which my father was unable to pay taxes on it because a lot of things happened after that my father passed away. So, anyway, he said the current tax is nearly 6-7 lakh, but earlier he agreed on 1 lakh, and now he is saying we canβt do below 2 lakh, the last receipt is from 2016 which is just of 4500 rs, so how can it increase so much? The Building was under construction till 2016.
I paid 20,000 for a residential building that is larger than 2000 sq. ft. so how can commercial be much more? Like more than 10 times.
Is there any way to calculate this? My gut feeling is saying there is a very big corruption going on and since the tax collector earlier accepted 1 lakh now saying 2 lakh.

March 29, 2025 at 12:12 pmThere website is useless, I think the penalty is compounding method, but the thing is how can the difference between residence and commercial be such huge, like 20k and 6-7 lakh-

March 29, 2025 at 12:18 pmDoes it work? And firstly isn’t there anyway to calculate the tax? I’ve searched on internet but after using those metrics to calculate taxes it isn’t nowhere near the amount he said-
