I have my own house in a high-rise apartment building in NCR. (I own this house.)

For the upcoming month of Ramzan, I want to organize Taraweehs( evening prayer ceremony) at my place.

The prayers will be held throughout the month of Ramzan (30 days) for approximately 2-3 hours every day from 7 to 10 pm.

In the wake of recent events in the past, where objections have been raised for similar ceremonies, I want to know:
        1. Can I do it?
        2. If yes. Do I need take any permission from RWAs or authorities?

Ps: it will be a gathering of 7-10 people. There will be no noise.

Please contact Building Secretary, if it’s a lady – please go with your spouse or mother.
          Inform about noise levels/guests(if any).

Better to inform RWA. Even if things are legal, it’s better to keep everyone on the same page.

                1. yes, you can.. people arrange jagraata/bhajan/kirtan all the time.. This is no different

                2. If there is no noise, there is no need of anyone’s permission.. informing them is a courtesy call & you are free to avoid that..

(This is what law is… rest is your call depending on your location, neighbourhood & their bigotry. You can never predict when will someone get horny over religion.)

This would come under Art-25, especially since you are going to have this ceremony in your own private space, which provides you with greater latitude.

The most common issue or excuse people have is about the noise. You claim that it would be a silent or more or less reasonably noisy event, although continuous 30-day gatherings could get tiring for neighbours. So, it would be better to check the RWA guidelines and keep the building secretary in the loop

Get a written permission from the RWA so tomorrow if someone calls police you can present the written permission as a proof

                      Lawyer here.

If you are not using loudspeakers, or making noise, then it will be fine. You don’t require permissions from anyone. But since being a Muslim in this country means that you will be harassed anyways, do inform your neighbours and RWA.
