May 8, 2025 at 10:14 amHi, I wanted to understand if it’s possible to file for a mutual consent divorce on our own, without involving a lawyer. Married for 5+ years now, we want to file for mutual consent divorce in Bangalore on grounds of non-consummation of marriage and basically no physical relations between the couple. I am from Delhi and husband from Mumbai, wedding happened in Delhi but we have been living and working in Bangalore since 2020. Is this possible, if so, what’s the process and how to go about it in the most efficient way? We both have full time jobs, so want to make it as easy for each other as possible. If anyone in this sub knows, please let me know. TIA. -

May 8, 2025 at 10:34 amHi. Iβm a Delhi based lawyer. Honestly, no matter where you file it, itβs just best to have a lawyer to smoothen the process. -

May 8, 2025 at 12:19 pmYes you can do it without a lawyer .. mostly judge will ask you why u have no representation and refer you to legal aid ..
Since you mentioned you want it easy better to refer a lawyer because otherwise you have to learn the law and how to apply and make petition and procedure all by yourself..
