The university that I was under is a state run university.

From 2018 to July 2020, every student’s academic results was published publicly online, including their name, college and the subjects & the courses they took.

It was only after July 2020 that we got our results only after logging into the university website. That way it was more discrete and our data was protected.

I was thinking of sending an email to the university and citing the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 to ask them to remove all these records from being publicly available.

Would that be the right move? Would they be bound to comply?

You can try filing a complaint, but won’t change anything

The notion of privacy (in any country) is a myth and exists just to make people feel better.
The quicker you buy into this myth, the quicker you can get on with your life ….. FWIW.

There is a violation of privacy where there is an expectation of privacy.

Wow, times have changed. In my time, it was perfectly normal for everyone to publicly ridicule the toppers when everyone’s results were put up on a physical notice board.
