My Brother Fell for a Coldplay Ticket Scam – Can we file a complaint?

My younger brother fell for one of the many Coldplay ticket scams circulating. He convinced me to lend him 48k for tickets that turned out to be a complete fraud. Now, the money is gone, and he’s not been able to do anything about it.

I have the scammer’s mobile number and UPI ID, but I’m unsure if there’s any legal recourse. Could we file a complaint or will it end up being a dead end especially since we technically purchased through a reseller? Apparently, this guy has defrauded hundreds of people, yet none of them seem to have taken legal action.

I’m not expecting to recover the money, but the lack of any investigation is disheartening, especially knowing how many others have been scammed in the same way. I’m considering this a one-time lesson to never give in to my younger brother’s impulsive decisions, but I’d really appreciate any advice on how to proceed.

Scams are legal in India. No use going to the police, they have already received their share of the cut. Tell your friend to bask in the glory of vishwaguru.

womp womp.. police would be like “if you can’t afford to get another ticket then you shouldn’t have gotten it in the first place” they’ll obviously look down on the rich who are petty crime victims. To them you just got duped by a mere concert ticket seller.

You can file a complaint but he felt for the most basic and easiest way to scam people. Don’t expect anything.

Consider this a expensive lesson. Most probably u won’t get it back unless you have connection in legal dept
