My Brother is Facing Severe Ragging at BCKV – Need Advice

My brother took admission in April 2024 at Bidhanchandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV) for Agricultural Engineering. The college made us sign an anti-ragging form, yet his seniors are making him and other juniors stay up all night. He is exhausted and mentally drained.

Now, after exams, they are not allowing juniors to go home, saying they can leave after the freshers’ event—but it has been months, and freshers haven’t happened yet. Seniors now say if anyone makes a mistake, they will beat them brutally. The hostels are like a prison; they don’t let juniors leave the boundary. They have already hit my brother a few times.

My brother recently said he can’t take it anymore and might harm himself. I am really scared for him. My father knows a local MLA who could intervene, but I fear it might make things worse for him.

Has anyone from BCKV faced this? What steps can we take to ensure his safety without putting him at greater risk?

Ask him to leave the college and get back home.

Who are you, age, education etc

And how, apologies in advance, unhelpful your father is. His kid is crying for help and this man is clueless.

File an anonymous complaint to ugc. Just mention name of seniors and UGC will do the rest. Ragging complaints are taken very seriously and these seniors will surely get a FIR registered against them.

Yes I will do this. Thank you. I have asked my brother to collect some evidence. Those seniors don’t let them keep the phone when they torture the juniors. But i can surely mention those seniors names

Ugc is a just rubber stamp they can’t do anything they just forward your complaint to the concern college after that college sent a letter to the ugc that complaint was false and we do not found anything related to ragging afterthat ugc forward this letter to complainant thats it

Take a bat.. crack open a couple of seniors skulls, automatically everyone will fall in line.. make a statement that you and your brother are not to be f*ked around with.. complaints warnings FIR will only make it worse for your brother

If you are in a Gym then round up a few guys or hire a few rowdy characters and visit him during the weekend. Treat him like a kid infront of everyone. Ask him in public why he looks all washed out. Ask him to not reply and side step the question. 9/10 times will do the trick.

Create a tweet from an anonymous account and tag DGP, minister of education and few Media outlets and post it here we all will retweet surely something will happen.

Do gather local people who live near the college and tell them about the situation. And then enter the college with them including your dad. Then confront those seniors who were ragging your brother.

Also inform police that seniors were involved in ragging.

Do something fast for your brother. And keep us updated.

Things are better now. Though after this post, those seniors printed my post and they asked the juniors to sign the paper that these are all lie.

Anyway, things are better now after the freshers. They don’t torture anymore.
