February 2, 2025 at 11:13 amAs the title says flying indigo and the flight is delayed for more than 90 mins.
I have heard there are laws that states passengers need to be compensated for these delays
If anyone know what these laws are and whom do I contact for these things and whays the process I would be greatfulI should also mention this is a connecting flight
The first flight was in time but the second one is delayed. -

February 2, 2025 at 11:46 amIβve stopped complaining about flight delays ever since I had a near-death experience on a flight. Most flight delays occur because the plane is facing some faults or the pilots arenβt at capacity to fly it. Itβs a complex machine, and even a single loose screw can cause significant damage and loss of life. These delays happen for ensuring our safety. Airlines donβt gain anything from these delays; they lose money and face negative customer reactions. I understand that itβs frustrating to experience delays as a passenger, but your life is far more important than a few hours of inconvenience.

February 2, 2025 at 12:51 pmLol, I disagree. Folks like indigo keep the planes running 24×7 and fix things only when shit breaks down aka ‘technical/mechanical fault’, and the associated delay for passengers. They should probably ground the plane once a fortnight for thorough checks and preventive maintenance , but hey, paisa more important.-

February 2, 2025 at 1:15 pmEx indigo employee here. I hate traveling by indigo and they probably have the worst seats in the world. BUT their maintenance is world class. Yes airplanes are complex machines and sometimes snags hit when you least expect them. However the engineering team ensures a phenomenal dispatch reliability and best of it all, the replacement aircraft availability. I am comparing them with some of the best airlines in the world.Ps. I am not comparing any cabin experience or cleanliness. Purely from technical stand point only.

February 2, 2025 at 1:58 pmClearly you are a pilot and not a maint engineer. So please tell me how much insight you have into preventive maintenance on the plane. Do you have information on when the last preventive maintenance was done on the plane?-

February 2, 2025 at 6:22 pmThere are preventive maintenance schedules for each aircraft type specified by the manufacturer and DGCA/FAA every airline has to abide by it. It’s not a fucking bajaj auto rickshaw it’s an airplane.-

February 3, 2025 at 7:54 pmWell I was management also and handled QA. I don’t know about how IGO is today. But back when I was there pre pandemic especially. Did you see MEL Dispatch ratio of IGO vs other carriers? Also not to mention the maintenance stock order. Not to mention the availability of replacement aircraft. The coordination between NOC and MCC all were seamless. Indigo had (again I can’t speak for today) one of the best dispatch reliability. AOG time was one of the lowest in the world (minus the PW issues) beyond their control.-

February 4, 2025 at 5:14 amGood to know and thanks for taking out the time to reply.
Question: I understand indigo is mostly airbus. I have visited Boeing factory in Everett (quite the experience) and they told me the engine choice is upto the company that is ordering the planes. Is it the same for airbus as well. Asking as the PW engine issue has been huge for a lot of airlines, so wanted to understand did airbus push the PW engines or was the airlines choice?-

February 4, 2025 at 2:42 pmAbsolutely correct. The Engines are sourced separately. On paper PW are brilliant. A lot of factors come into play when an airline opts for the OEM PowerPlant. For a large airline like indigo, its not just about unit cost but each engine is put on a Engine Maintenance Program where repair and overhaul costs are fixed when procuring the engine. It is based on an amptitude of variables depending on the nature of operations. PW probably offered the best deal when the first 100 A320 neo order were made. But subsequently Indigo migrated to the Leap from PW. There are specific teams who handle these High level procurement which usually run into 100s of millions of dollars.-
