My friend lost 50k to these whatsapp scammers

So yesterday only she was telling me about how she’s getting paid 120rs per review that she posts, i told her good keep it and later she tells me she got paid 6k i told her good, keep it but don’t pay anything to these people else you’ll get scammed (I know about this scam) then she didn’t tell me anything after that and today she asked me for 5k so I sent (should’ve asked her then only maybe it would have stopped) but she was saying she needs it urgently so I didn’t ask much and paid and because she has also helped me alot in the past. Now just 30m ago she told me that her 50k is stuck in some crypto trading account because she made a wrong move and now other people’s(3 more from her group) account is also suspended. And to unlock it the Group admin is telling her to deposit another 1.4 lakhs. I know it’s not possible to get back money from these scammers.

But can a case be filed, will anything happen?

I told her to not give them any money, she said it started with 5k then gradually kept increasing.

That’s not what “Stop all communication” means.

You detect a scam? You block them.

No “I got some money from them, let’s see what’s gonna happen or how much more money I can get from those scammers cause I’m very smart”

Dude, have you even read the complete post? I told her these are scammers when she told they’re paying her for reviews and she has got 6k. And we’re adults I can’t force someone to do something.

They can. But the matter has to go to court. The victim has to submit all the NEFT/RTGS/IMPS details to cybercrime, then they’ll freeze the funds. To release it back, they gotta hire a lawyer who’ll charge a hefty amount.

The 6K that your friend initially received must be from some other victim’s account. Wait until police freezes your friend’s bank account for 6K fraud.

As for 51K stuck, if your friend pays 1.4L to unlock the 51K then total 1.91L will be stuck. She can make a cyber complaint but won’t expect miracles.

There is a little bit of available possibility .

First ask your friend to lodge a cybercomplaint in [cybercrime.gov.in](http://cybercrime.gov.in)

by mentioning all the transaction particulars,

Then police will file a CSR/FIR and freeze the bank accounts of the suspects.

After which you can approach the Judicial Magistrate to get an order to refund the said amount.

Note:- This process is totally depends upon your District and State you are residing in

File a police compliant and if possible ask them to register an FIR. They will block account immediately and if any amount is left in the account. Then they will help you get it with their commission.
