May 3, 2025 at 5:00 am[](https://www.reddit.com/r/developersIndia/?f=flair_name%3A%22Help%22)I am serving my two-month notice period, and my manager is not happy with my performance. That is hilarious.
* I have closed more than 10 tickets since I resigned. Yes, I have all the data for the work I have completed.
* He says that I have been unprofessional and has mentioned 3 instances.
* He says that I am late to standups and I have taken 3 unplanned leaves. These leaves were not all together, like a single day off spread across the last 1 month. Mind you, I have 50 leaves available
* He says I am ruining the morale of the team by being so obvious about my notice period.
* He says my actions are affecting the business. The HR is an entirely different team in this company. I have prepared all the data to defend myself.
The questions I have
* Can they extend my notice period?
* Can they make my exit more difficult?
* What can I do when things go south? -

May 3, 2025 at 5:30 amDuring the notice periods you are not allowed for leaves and if HR want they can increase your notice period depending upon the leaves you are taking during your NP.Now coming to your questions:-
1- If HR want they can extend your NP
2- They cannot make your NP difficult rather you can do so be confident.
3- Try not to make any chaos and just go to office and do the daily jobs and come back home. You should enjoy your NP rather than getting yourself tangled in the idiotic things.-

May 3, 2025 at 6:03 ama resignation is a unilateral one way communication.
You are not a bonded labour. you can quit when you want. You can stop going to office tomorrow and the worst the company can do , legally, is to recover the notice period from your full and final payment.

May 3, 2025 at 6:05 amThis is the tactic they use to extract maximum juice from an on paper employee . I would suggest decrease the productivity to some extent and stay chill -

May 3, 2025 at 6:12 amStart doing even less work. These buffoons just want to squeeze you dry. As soon as they see it’s not worth it they’ll give up. -

May 3, 2025 at 6:43 am1st thing : Take printouts of all appreciation mails from before your NP and good ratings if you have any. Build the picture that you are a good employee who loves this company and might even come back to work here at a senior position few years down the line. (This gives HR the message of not burning bridges with you). Then take out the data of your NP performance showing you have performed well and say that whatever conversation is happening should be data driven and mature discussion.
Refer your leave policy and read it letter by letter to see if sick leaves are given in your company during NP. If not then go down the path of asking them to cut your 3 days salary instead of extending your NP ( they usually dont do that but atleast it will put the HR in a dilemma on what to do)
Also remember, the HR might be from different team but for the HR you are now an outsider and your manager is still a part of the company so don’t consider HR to be on your side. Also don’t get emotional but be data driven and base your talk on policies, rules, employee well being and image of the company.

May 3, 2025 at 6:52 am1 – Can impact reference or Background Check as normally it goes to reporting manager
2- Varies company to company (During notice period leaves are not allowed – except sick leaves)
3- You must be getting leave encashments of those 50 days. If not, talk to your HRBP.
4- they can terminate you during notice period also. But as you are on notice period. Just try to get an easy exit. All the best for your next endeavour.

May 3, 2025 at 6:56 amI understand your concern but please be mindful of the situation that your manager might be in. First of all, unplanned leaves are not the same as planned leaves. You may have a lot of leaves left with you but try to plan them in advance. Some companies put a restriction on leaves during the notice period or some type of leaves are not allowed, so check the policy or confirm with HR.Communicate well with your manager and try to leave things on a good note. Also, some managers are sceptical about the leaves/behaviour of people on notice period as it gives a certain impression on the other team members and they might do the same when they serve the notice period. Talk to your manager and inform that you understand the situation and would be professionally fulfilling the duties. Ask for their support as well during this period as it is a two way street. Good luck!

May 3, 2025 at 7:01 am1. No.
2. They can do nothing.
3. Things cannot go south. They cannot refuse to give you any leave. Earned leave is a matter of right. They must not even comment on it. If they accuse you in writing.
This is just an ego issue. Simply ignore and move on.

May 3, 2025 at 7:30 amGo all out war on your manager if you have all the data and proofs. If he has set a meeting and youโre included donโt hold back. If youโre not included you set your own meeting with HR and send an email putting the meeting notes, data and proofs. Cc it to yourself as well.
There is no need for any diplomacy here as you may even need proof in your future company just in case your manager is successful in inclining the HR to his objectives which might include somehow sabotaging your prospects in your next job.-

May 3, 2025 at 7:35 amI would say even call out the fact (if thats the case) that just because youโre moving on to next company your manager is trying to take out any personal enmity or grudge against you.
