May 9, 2025 at 6:24 amHi everyone, I’m in a really stressful situation and could use some guidance. My mother recently took a loan and the amount has been credited to her bank account. However, in order to withdraw the funds, the bank requires biometric authentication — specifically, fingerprint verification linked to Aadhaar.
The problem is: my mother’s fingerprints have started fading. The biometric scanner at the bank is unable to verify her identity. We went to the Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update/re-enroll her fingerprints, but even their scanner couldn’t register her prints — they said the scanner failed to capture them properly.
Now we’re stuck. The money is there, but we can’t access it because her Aadhaar authentication keeps failing. IRIS and face authentication weren’t offered at the center we visited.
We’ve already tried:
Visiting an Aadhaar center (scanner couldn’t capture new fingerprints)
Talking to the bank (they insist only fingerprint-based Aadhaar authentication is allowed)
We haven’t yet:
Tried another Aadhaar center with better equipment
Filed a grievance with UIDAI or the bank’s higher-ups
Has anyone faced this before?
Can we request Aadhaar to add IRIS or facial data for future verification?
Is the bank allowed to give an alternate verification route?
Any legal/official path to escalate this?
I’d really appreciate any help, suggestions, or shared experiences. Thank you.

If you are not even able to get iris scan then some affidavit being signed by the bank authority should also work. But some bank employees are unaware abd yiu have to sorta escalate things

May 9, 2025 at 7:06 amAs far as I know Aadhar authentication happens via OTP too. You should receive an OTP on the registered mobile number for your Aadhar card. I have an super senior relative whose KYC needed to be done at Indian bank and obv they could not go to the bank so I was able to do it via OTP. Request for OTP based Aadhar authentication.-

May 9, 2025 at 7:30 amMost probably it’s the finger print reader at fault. I face this every year in post office while getting her jeevan praman get made. Then go to a local office and their finger print reader is new and it registers the finger print. -
