I know it’s kind of a dumb move to just buy such an expensive item for your friend. I’m not making a post on behalf of him. So I would like to know if you were in his situation what would you do?

I heard a few more things about this situation. He asked about when he’s returning the money (quite a few times). After some failed attempts, he also asked the guy’s brother about the money, and he just blamed my uncle for lending such a huge amount, which is true he didn’t even sign any contract with him.

After asking his “friend” for the money again, the guy just threatened to shoot him. He even got some goons (most likely) and reached his house. (to threaten him i guess). This is all I know about the situation.

Well the main thing Im worried about is the place he’s living in. It’s Bihar, Patna. I’m pretty sure the legal system is quite shite and corrupt over there. Plus he’s living with his family with two kids.

So.. yeah. I’m worried about the family as well. Just wanted to know about what legal action he can take keeping his family safe.

Tell the police he is extorting and payment from his account. File a case if he says he paid 20 in cash he will be screwed for having so much cash in hand

I mean your uncle paid only but technically he hasn’t paid it back is what the complaint will be. Your uncle has proof of online Payment but he hasn’t t paid it back there is no proof.

20l jewelery directly ? And gifted her with no agreements , sorry , he can say it was a gift and was asking back in return , your uncle was dumb to do such , and this would be a good lesson learned. Understand this if a person doesn’t want to repay , he will not and here the repay is not legally bound just morally and you already knew him to be morally corrupt .
I learned this hard way too , lend money which you are ready to loose , and lend to known member’s only when there is life in danger. Marriage and jewels being luxury ,I would have not gifted more than few thousand bucks

When I first heard about the situation I was literally baffled and speechless. Like why would you *lend* such a huge amount, literally crazy situation.

NAL.Seems like money laundering to me. A lot of people do that, Pay cash and then expect the amount in the account. But usually it’s between relatives. If the money is legal, then your uncle should file a theft complaint and get the jewelry back.
