I don’t know how to explain this as I am very angry right now . I have a cousin sister (f26) and she is married and also has a daughter (f2) . My jiju is a nice guy and always supports my sister but his parents are so rude to my sister and always taunt her as she didn’t give in dowry or do called gifts . Earlier they used to just taunt my sister but from a couple of months they are literally torturing her mentally, my sister developed a brain clot and started having seizure and fits. She is currently in depression but my jiju still supported her in every way possible and because of these things he started arguing with his father and mother . Today my jiju’s father thrashed him and threw them all of them out , my sister, jiju and there young daughter and that too in night . My brother rushed to help them as they were standing on road without anything. I genuinely need some advice as I am just 20 years old and the only thing I can think at this point is to best the shit out of my jiju’s father but I know it’s just going to make things worse. We are thinking of filing a police case but my jiju is scared as he knows that his father is a powerful guy with alot of connections. Please I need some help any advice you can give can be helpful ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

File a Police Complaint for cruelty and dowry demand against the husbandโ€™s family. No need to be scared.

Lol. Beti marr jaye par more important is log kya kahenge.

You need to get your priorities straight. Are you concerned about their well being genuinely or what people will say?

If itโ€™s the former, start with FIR and consult a lawyer. Rather consult a lawyer first before you file the FIR so that he gets all the offences in.

First, ensure they are safe. Since legal action is tricky due to your jijuโ€™s fatherโ€™s influence, document everythingโ€”messages, medical records, and proof of abuse. Consider filing a case under Domestic Violence Act or Section 498A IPC for dowry harassment. If police action feels risky, onboard a good lawyer and reach out to womenโ€™s rights organizations for support.

The Domestic Violence and Dowry Harassment cases can be filed only against the FIL & MIL. Demanding dowry itself is a criminal offence
