A guy I know borrowed around ₹15,000 from me and promised to return it within 15 days. It’s been over 2 months now, and he hasn’t returned a single rupee. Worse, he has blocked me on all platforms and is completely unresponsive.

I have solid proof—bank transfer details, video call recordings, audio recording, and screenshots of our chats. I know ₹15k might not sound like a huge amount to some, but it was my hard-earned money. I recently left my job, so I’m currently unemployed, and this loss hits hard.

I’m even thinking of warning him one last time by sending all the proofs from an unknown number, just to let him know I’m serious.

What should I do in this situation? Any advice on how to proceed legally or otherwise would be appreciated.

Basically you learnt a lesson for 15000.

Consider yourself lucky that the lesson costed you only 15000.

A crying young woman made me book her flight for around 12000…and i still owe around 55000 to someone…He says he will pay it back…

          Have i learnt a lesson? I don’t know really.

Yeah man, lesson learnt the hard way. Still stings though especially when money’s tight. Sorry to hear about your experience too. It sucks how some people can just take advantage and vanish like that.

22F here, I lend 70k to a friend of mine who is 35F, it’s been 5 months she hasn’t returned a single penny to me. I am literally begging for my own money. She is living in Dubai rn so can’t proceed any legal stuff with her. Don’t know what to do. I also have bank transfers, call recordings, screenshots everything.

Actually you can, lawyer up, she’s gonna be in trouble, if she’s working in Dubai, complain to authorities there as well.

Just report to the immigration and she will beg you to take it back else she will be deported.

A lawyer here. You can definitely proceed against her legally even if she’s residing in Dubai. Send her a legal notice. If she doesn’t pay, file a suit in the court. Court will send her summons via email/courier. If she doesn’t appear, obtaining judgement will be a lot faster and easier. Execute the court order by selling off her movable and immovable properties in India to get your money back. You definitely have a strong case with all those proofs.

Legal expenses will be more than 15k, u should take out of court measures for this, try coercion or something else

consider it as cost of learning a valuable life lesson. if at all you consider lending money get post dated cheques and loan agreement done.

A simple agreement where the borrower acknowledged he borrowed the loan and date within which he will repay. It needs to be on stamp paper. you can use chat gpt to generate content of loan agreement.

That’s unfair, 15,000 is a significant amount, especially when you’ve worked hard for it and are currently between jobs. You’ve shown a lot of patience already, and having clear proof puts you in a strong position. It’s not just about the money, it’s about trust and respect. You deserve to be taken seriously.

This is how I got my money back in (2016). Similar situation happened to me, amount was approx. 60k. He promised me to return by next month but kept on delaying. After 3 months, I started taking things serious and kept on calling/texting him, and he kept on ignoring. He straightforward told me, do whatever I want.he won’t return the money. He lived 500 KMS away, an old time schoolmate.

Somehow I was able to get his father no. and called him respectfully. His father scolded me and told me you didn’t asked me when you gave him money now why are you asking me. I told his father i will go to police and his father said yes you can.

I prepared a letter and attached printout of transactions plus WhatsApp chats and sent this to his father WhatsApp and told him that I am sending this to your workplace also for awareness that you father-son are not trustworthy and doing frauds after gaining trust. I mentioned the father’s work place.

His father got too afraid and within an hour kept on calling me and I kept on decline. Then his son sent me all the amount and apologized. As soon i received the payment, I blocked both of them and never contacted them again.

A lawyer here. You can obviously send him a legal notice and file a suit for recovery but court fees and advocate fees combined will be more than Rs. 15,000/-. You can recover the court and advocate fees once you win the case but still I don’t think it’s gonna be a worth it hassle.

Maybe offer some settlement amount to him or tell him to pay in instalments.
