February 11, 2025 at 10:26 amMy family lived together in a home that my father got constructed in the year 2004. Me and mom lived there(in Karnataka ) while father stayed back in Goa for his job. After my 12th I moved to a different city for engineering and since then moved to Bangalore. I used to visit from time to time.
Now my father is retired and is living in a different city closer to his native and mom is also with him. So the house is currently empty. Now my father (under the advice of “well meaning” relatives)wants to sell that plot+house and purchase a different plot+house in the city he is currently residing in.
I am against this as it’s my childhood home and I have fond memories of the place, and there is no need to buy new property in the new city as he has a good rental house there.
Is there any way that I can stop him/object to the sale of the property legally?TLDR: Father wants to sell my childhood home, is there any legal way to stop that from happening.

February 11, 2025 at 10:36 amIs this property inherited by your father by any chance from his ancestors? If not and itβs self acquired, he can do whatever he wants without anybody else having any say on it.-

February 11, 2025 at 11:17 amIt’s self acquired, but he sold some ancestral land before the house was constructed. Can a case be made saying that he bought the house using the money from the sale?-

February 11, 2025 at 11:20 amIf you can establish proximate nexus between that sale and purchase then a distant Yes. A lot easier would be seek your share in ancestral property by asking to set aside the earlier ancestral sale transaction.-
