Hello, I need some advice on how to handle a situation in my apartment complex in a peaceful and sensible way.

I live on the 3rd floor of a flat, and the owners on the 4th floor regularly feed a stray dog. I donโ€™t have an issue with feeding stray animals โ€“ I actually feed dogs whenever I visit my village. However, this situation has started to cause some problems for the building.

The dog has been making a mess in the parking area, and the people living on the ground floor have to clean it up every day. For the past month, the dog has also started sitting in front of the staircase near my floor. Today, it even bit my crocs. Sometimes, leeches or other insects come into my home, which I believe could be linked to the dogโ€™s presence.

Recently, the 4th-floor ladies have begun feeding the dog right in front of their flat, so the dog now spends most of its time inside the building. While I understand their concern for the dog, Iโ€™m worried about potential health risks, like rabies, if thereโ€™s accidental contact with its saliva or if it bites someone.

The tricky part is that I want to resolve this without creating unnecessary tension. These ladies are known for arguing frequently with others in the building and barely think before saying something ( I really don’t want to land in any false aquisition).I live with my parents and prefer a peaceful environment.

For those who might label me anti-animal, I want to clarify that I love animals and nature โ€“ this isnโ€™t about hating the dog. I just think the situation needs a better solution for everyoneโ€™s safety and cleanliness.

How can I address this issue without getting into a heated argument? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

          1. Ask for vaccination status. As a feeder, i dont merely feed. I ensure that the doggos are vaccinated and neutered.

          2. If you don’t know, call a local authority. Bmc is pretty helpful and picks up doggos for sterilization and vaccination.

That is what you can do to protect yourself from rabies, etc. Check if the doggos ear is clipped, if yes, it is generally sterilized and vaccinated.
