Need advice on surname change of my wife

My wife and I got married and we have a child too. I want to get a birth certificate for my child. Before doing that I am not sure of a few things:

1. Is it mandatory to change my wife’s surname in Aadhar card . I think the answer to this is ‘no’ (based on some previous questions by other redditors)
2. Our marriage certificate shows my wife’s name in two ways:

* Before marriage: with her maiden name
* After marriage: with my surname

Assuming that it’s not mandatory to change the name after marriage, but given how it’s written in the certificate, **do I need to update her legal documents** (like Aadhaar, Passport, PAN, etc.) to match the name used after marriage?.

simple logical advice
what is easier – updating one marriage certificate or updating literally everything else?
its not mandatory either way, outside of family law proceedings you wont need marriage certificate

Do you mean I should get the marriage certificate updated to have her after marriage legal name to be as : First Name + Maiden Name ?
And this too is optional ?

yes probably, unless its important to you its always easier to not have marital surname in legal docs as getting stuff changed is a pain, and getting new docs (esp. passport) is a pain when you have different names in different docs
the exception is if you don’t have your surname in your own legal docs but will put it in your children’s docs
