QOne of the people I know is in the midst of seperation. Wife has filed dv and dowry act cases. Police have already beaten him and demanded 30000(he is an electrician so he has work daily ) to not beat him or harrass him daily he is trying to get that together, everyone knows case is just out spite due to marriage breaking (his wife is a post graduate working with much better salary ,doesn’t needor demand any alimony ).Is there any cost effective remedy for this and maybe a long shot even punishment for police ?
Please do not mention social media campaigns.

UUnfortunately there is no code effective remedy. Time is on his side. So, just wait. I hope no children in the marriage. If children exist, he has to pay something even if wife is working, and it is fair.
If the wife is working and is better off, then file for divorce. She will not get any maintenance under Crpc 125 even if she files unless she has evidence.
Fight the 498a, get a lawyer from High court. 90% of 498a are fake these days. Police are just mercenaries and know who the innocent are. It’s a sad society we live in.

QThey have 2 children. The problem is the police are disrupting his work(self employed ) and hitting him to get the bribe, he is not that much educated 10th+iti and he is now scared that even if he gives bribes them now, if wife includes his mother(she lives in a nearby village ),police will harass for more bribes which he cannot afford.

UIf he can not pay, there is nothing he can do. Consultant a lawyer. Usually once lawyer is consulted, the police harassment is stopped.
Usually cases are filed on all parties at once. It’s weird she did not file on the mother already. The mother can file for domestic violence on the DIL as well. The police won’t do anything to old parents.
This is the monster that the system created and unless they fix it, marriage will fail in India.
