May 6, 2026 at 9:36 amMy father is a retired government officer and has received summons as a witness in an old criminal case from 2012 in Rohini Courts, Delhi. He was involved only in official capacity while issuing a license and is not an accused in the matter. We live in assam, and we are considering sending an exemption application / request for VC appearance through Speed Post before the next hearing date.
My question is:
Has anyone here successfully had such an application accepted when sent only through post(bluedart/speed post ) without physically appearing or using a lawyer?
Will the court usually take it on record if it reaches before the hearing date, or is physical filing/e-filing generally necessary?
Also, should copies additionally be emailed to the court/police station as precaution?
Would appreciate practical advice from advocates or anyone with experience in Rohini Courts / Delhi district courts.
TL;DR: Retired government officer received court summons/bailable warrant as a witness in Delhi for an old official-capacity matter. Can exemption/VC request application sent by Speed Post alone be accepted by the court without personal appearance or lawyer?

May 6, 2026 at 8:23 pmI can help you out. Courts in Rohini are not very tech friendly, yes there is a VC facility where neither the judge would listen to you nor you would be able to listen to him.
