May 6, 2025 at 7:19 amHello everyone,I’m a [B.Tech](http://B.Tech) student from Sundargarh town, Odisha. I come from a General category, Muslim family(if that matters). My father is a tailor with an annual income of less than ₹1 lakh (around ₹90,000). We are a family of five, living in a 3BHK house that was built 26 years ago through a ₹10 lakh loan.
For the past four years, I have been successfully applying for an income certificate online, reflecting our actual income (~₹90,000), which allows me to get a **tuition fee waiver of ₹1 lakh per semester**. This waiver is crucial for me, as I’ve already taken a student loan from SBI and cannot afford the tuition otherwise.
However, this year, my income certificate application is being **repeatedly rejected** during the **Revenue Inspector (RI) report stage**. When my father approached the RI in person, he said he will **only issue a certificate with income above ₹1 lakh**, which is **not true in our case**. If I get a certificate showing income above ₹1 lakh, I will **lose the fee waiver** and be forced to pay the full amount, which we simply cannot afford.
**I urgently need help** understanding how I can get a correct income certificate issued. Is there a way to appeal this decision or escalate it to higher authorities? Any advice or support is deeply appreciated.
Thank you.
**TL;DR:**
[B.Tech](http://B.Tech) student from Sundargarh, Odisha. Father is a tailor earning <₹1 lakh/year. For 4 years, I got an income certificate showing this, which let me get a ₹1 lakh **per semester** tuition fee waiver. This year, the RI is rejecting my application and insists on issuing a certificate with income >₹1 lakh — which would make me lose the waiver and force me to pay full fees. I need help getting the correct certificate issued. -

May 6, 2025 at 7:32 amNo family could secure a 10 lacs loan 26 years ago without substantial income. That house is about 50-70 lacs now. Tailor who only repair clothes outside my building under a tree earns about 2 thousand daily.A veteran tailor with own shop earns 4-5k average daily. And you’re applying for income certificate meant for people below poverty line with no land in their name and no roof over head, have to toil whole day to earn enough to have food in their bellies. That’s annual income of <90000.
Don’t become an engineer if your thought process is already like that, pull a rickshaw instead.
