Context: My car collided with another(my mistake) on a highway. They are demanding 2L on spot to not involve police and don’t want to wait for insurance. (I have insurance and 3rd party damage is covered but they don’t want to wait).

I want to know the possible repercussions of involving police and what happens in court.
Also if any one has been in a similar boat, please suggest the best course of action.

Involve the cops. Your insurance will cover the damages of the third party. End of story.

But as I mentioned, if a case happens it will turn out to be my mistake, what happens then?

Third-party insurance is a type of car insurance that covers damages caused to others in an accident where you are at fault. This means it protects the other party but not you or your vehicle.
If you have third-party insurance, your insurance company will cover the damages to the other party’s vehicle and any medical expenses they incur as a result of the accident. However, your insurance company will not cover the damages to your vehicle or any medical expenses you incur.
You may be able to make a claim for damages to your vehicle and medical expenses through your own car insurance policy, even if you are at fault for the accident. However, this will depend on the type of car insurance policy you have.
If you do not have car insurance, you will be responsible for paying for the damages to your vehicle and any medical expenses you incur as a result of the accident.
It is important to note that even if you have third-party insurance, you may still be liable for damages to the other party if they exceed the amount of coverage you have.

Just tell them to wait for the insurance to remit the compensation end of story.

if they persist on demanding money send them a legal notice through a legal counsel to desist from making demands which are being taken care of plus give them your insurance details.
