March 12, 2025 at 1:02 pmWhile staying in Delhi, I submitted an FIR for my stolen product. As it was resolved the day after, I submitted cancellation of FIR to the police the very next day.
A year later, the court is suddenly summoning me for that cancelled FIR. I am no longer staying in Delhi and have shifted permanently to another state.
As it is impossible for me to go to Delhi, can i just ignore the summon?

March 12, 2025 at 2:41 pmFIR is not something you can cancel simpliciter like this, only the High Courts have that kind of power.Depending on the kind of court, ignoring summons may result in your case getting dismissed (higher chance as it was for a relatively low value theft) or a bailable warrant may be issued (very less chance as courts are already overburdened with other cases).
If you can, enquire with a lawyer at Delhi if the court has VC facility and you can appear through VC.
