Need Help regarding tenant-landlord issue stuff.
M21, M20 . It’s been almost two years been in Chandigarh and have been with among various renter’s in this city and all absolutely helpful to us bachelor’s.
Now. We are living in one room at rent around sec 41 and there had been problem regarding no water supply. Had to be because of air got stuck in Valve.
We called our landlord asking for the same to help us and provide us relief with some plumber fixing work. His and her wife response: (tum rehte ho ab tum dekho plumber and all charges on you) We have already repaired some of the faucet of their home because all were not good in conditions and broke in few months. Always threatening us either fix it on your own or leave our house.
We already have deposited ₹3,000 security deposit to them. In frustration I told them if we vacate this house we want our full security deposit and they took it as a threatening and came to place saying serving you (1 month notice period for the same) Now the issue is our bachelor’s degree is getting over around April end and no one is going to allot us room for few months. We have been living here almost an year.

In heat of the moment I did said I’ll call police if you don’t give us our security deposit and you haven’t filled the tenant agreement form with us but we have proof of transaction for the same. But in reality we are scared to deal with police what if they come in their favour and ask us to vacate urgently and we have nowhere to go.
They don’t share us the electricity bill and we have to pay them on unit basis where (1unit = ₹6) although we have heard Chandigarh has 200 units free. Just putting out here if anyone knows anything about it
We need your guidance. Pls give us your honest opinion.

SSo you learnt an important lesson I hope. Never jump in a fight without preparation and thinking about all possible scenarios.
Also it’s just money and it’s not your city.. only 3 months to go… Let it pass.Their one police complaint that you stole something or said something or assaulted Them will take your whole life for a spin and fixing that would be much more expensive and bigger problem. I hope you have calculated the cost of one round trip of your parents to your location to help you out in difficulty.
Because they have thought it all through.. maybe they are cronies but they are experienced cronies in their own home city. Be smart about things.
