February 7, 2025 at 7:27 pmI gave money to a person without any note whom I met through online (I know it is so stupid of me) which told he would invest that money in stocks and give back with 50% profits in a week. After continuous begging for 6 months he gave a cheque with principle and profits combined which got bounced twice. After I asked for his bank statements it is clear from that he never used money to do trading but cleared off the loans he already had. It’s been already 2 and half months since it got bounced and he gave back only 30% of principle till now. Please tell me if I should go to lawyer to send a notice. Will it take years to settle this type of cases? Pls advice -

February 7, 2025 at 8:29 pmLawyer here. It’s a good sign that the accused is starting to pay you. That in turn means, if we file a case against him, he’d pay up. Secondly we’d have to analyse our options to 1) secure the money 2) secure it the fastest way possible. -
