I gave money to a person without any note whom I met through online (I know it is so stupid of me) which told he would invest that money in stocks and give back with 50% profits in a week. After continuous begging for 6 months he gave a cheque with principle and profits combined which got bounced twice. After I asked for his bank statements it is clear from that he never used money to do trading but cleared off the loans he already had. It’s been already 2 and half months since it got bounced and he gave back only 30% of principle till now. Please tell me if I should go to lawyer to send a notice. Will it take years to settle this type of cases? Pls advice

Lawyer here. It’s a good sign that the accused is starting to pay you. That in turn means, if we file a case against him, he’d pay up. Secondly we’d have to analyse our options to 1) secure the money 2) secure it the fastest way possible.

Cheque bounce case timeline and essentials are strictly construed.

Rebounce the cheque, send the legal notice and file the suit within the specific timeline.ย

Can we rebounce it even after the memo is generated and also I already reprocessed it once which got bounced. Can we reprocess 3rd time again?
