MMy parents have been separated since 2005 but never officially divorced. They still talk daily, though it’s mostly my mom harassing and emotionally abusing my dad for money. My dad, being from an older generation, refuses to consider divorce due to social stigma and fear of what people will say.
My sister has always lived with my mom, while I have lived with my dad. Over the years, my mom and sister have extracted large sums of money from my dad, yet they are never satisfied. Recently, their behavior has escalated—they have been sending my dad abusive messages and even making suicidal threats, saying that if he doesn’t give them more money, they will end their lives and leave a note blaming him. This feels like emotional blackmail and manipulation.
Additionally, they forced my dad to take out a mortgage for a house that was purchased in my sister’s name. He is still making the payments despite having no ownership of the property.
My dad and I are under immense stress, and whatever little money we have left, we need to protect. What legal options do we have to stop this harassment and financial exploitation? Any advice on how to handle this legally would be greatly appreciated.
