CHi everyone, I need legal advice regarding a property deal that went wrong. In 2020, I made an agreement with X to purchase a property from him for ₹12,50,000. As part of the deal, I paid ₹3,50,000 upfront. However, later I had to be pay rest by end of 2020, I discovered that the property was actually government land Due to this, I decided not to proceed with the purchase. After realizing the issue in 2021 dec , I asked for a refund of my ₹3,50,000, he hesitated and told me he won’t give and then I reached police where I complained and police made him write on stamp paper where he promised to return the amount by March 1, 2022. The agreement also stated that legal action would follow if he failed to pay. However, despite multiple reminders, he has not returned the money. Due to my family issue I cannot pay attention to that issue in recent 3 years but now I’m free what should I do to recover money and which extra compensation I can claim pl guide

RJust file a fraud case citing the 2 agreements. Get a decent lawyer who can properly write the narrative/plaint. Will take a while to settle but atleast other side will still be answerable

Csir but someone told me timeline for recovery suit is 3 years and it has been passed what can we do further in this case

Dyou will have to file a suit for recovery, also file an FIR for fraud against him , those are your legal option.

Dwell if you have record of them acknowledging payment, you can extend limitation, talk to your lawyer , he will tell you.
