***”Alteration: That the Licensees shall not make or permit to do any alteration or addition to the construction or arrangements (internal or external) to the Licensed premises without previous consent in writing from the Licensor.”***

Does this clause in the rental agreement restrict my ability to get an air conditioner installed in my room? #indianlaw

Depends on whether you will have to do any alteration to the property. If the property has space for installing the AC without making any alteration then permission won’t be required, however, if you will have to make alterations, then you need permission. If you do it without his approval, then most likely he will use that as an excuse to not return your security deposit.

In any event, you should inform the licensor that you are installing AC on email and get his approval.
