I’m seeking advice regarding my resignation process. I’ve been working as a software developer in my current company for the past 5 years where I joined as a fresher. Recently, I decided to move on and accepted an offer from another organization.

As per the terms in my offer letter, I submitted my resignation over a email and stated that I would serve the 30-day notice period. However, my company acknowledged my resignation mail and has told to extend the notice period until they find a replacement. They want me to provide knowledge transfer (KT) sessions and then leave but they haven’t mentioned any relieving date till now.

I talked to new company HR where they told that they can’t wait for me more than a week and offer will expire if I delay the joining date. I want to leave on good terms making sure I get my experience letter and relieving letter but the current organization is not ready to relieve me on my last working day.

It’s a very small company with very few employees. So there is no HR is Involved and all the talks and mail exchanges are happening between me and the management.

How to handle it? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

          Cheap tricks of the HR

Go through the agreement that you have signed during onboarding.
They can’t extend your notice period,
If they are unable to find a replacement that’s their problem not yours.
On a good will you will try to take out after joining the new company and do KT, just bluff this to the management and get your experience letters etc and cut them off

I told them that I am ready to do KT on weekends and even after joining the new company. They are against it and want me to extend.

You can’t extend your last day at any cost.
Say them as per the rules I’ve informed and ready to serve the notice period as per the terms.
Have a copy of the mail acknowledgement and your company policies.
If they say they won’t giv experience letter etc, keep all the evidence say them you wil go to labour court.

Giving KT is not part of agreement between you and company.

Yes my agreement(offer letter) only talks about giving a 30 days prior notice to the employer before leaving.
