SHi everyone,
I recently posted something about the ongoing unrest in the country. Before I knew it, right-wing extremists were after me — I’ve been receiving relentless death and rape threats ever since. They not only harassed me but also targeted my friends. Several posts about me circulated widely online, gaining around 10,000 views and an overwhelming number of hate comments.
I don’t want to reveal my identity or the original post for safety reasons, but I’m aware that some of you may have seen it. I’m sharing this despite knowing it could reach the wrong people, because I need advice.
There’s still a post up on a Meta platform that multiple people, including myself, have reported — clearly highlighting the gravity of the situation — but it still hasn’t been taken down.
To make things worse, they doxxed my workplace. Instead of standing by me, my employer chose to terminate my contract. I’ve now lost my job because of this.
I’ve consulted a few lawyers and am initiating a cybercrime complaint, but I’m wondering if there’s anything else I can do.
If anyone here has experience with such situations — legal action, getting posts removed faster, or holding companies accountable — I would really appreciate your advice.Ideally, I want justice: I want the accounts that posted about me, those who sent threats, and my former company to be held accountable.
But realistically, my immediate priority is getting that post taken down so I can begin rebuilding my career and my life.It honestly feels like living in an Orwellian nightmare.
What happened to freedom of speech? What happened to India being a democracy?I also want to clarify: nothing I posted was anti-national or in support of enemies, as these hate posts are falsely alleging. It was a historically accurate, fact-based exploration of the history of this situation — something even the police has acknowledged.
Right now, my most urgent need is to get that post taken down.
Any help, advice, or insights would mean a lot. Thank you
