USo nowadays, my family is preparing some homemade chips. Since they need 2 days of sunlight, we kept them in open on our terrace.
Yesterday, I noticed my neighbour spitting on our chips from her terrace. We’ve CCTV cams installed, so her action is recorded clearly.
Is it a crime? Is their any proper legal punishment? What actions should we take?

USharing on X and fb will make everyone knows about it and they will be ashamed of it whole life. You should also complain to police.
Btw why tf did they spit ? Is it bcz of any religious issue ? I’ve seen something like spitting on food given in restaurant bcz of religious reason if u know what I mean

USometimes it’s better to circulate the footage in your society or common friends. Shame them publicly. They deserve it.

SSeems like they’re already living the punishment. Let the authorities know even if they don’t file an FIR, for future. You can’t really do much (not would the police most probably, at least in this case) except safeguard yourself. What can happen is they do something that ends up harming some other neighbor (like drop a brick on them) and blame you for it. So for that reason you need to keep the police in the loop. Try to get any paperwork (even a rough paperwork signed by the police) so you have an alibi. Keep recording, and try not to instigate them further, you only have more to lose than them.

You should also search “neighbor” in that subreddit and you’ll come across some existing ideas.

UNeighbours and relatives unfortunately cannot be chosen. Best way to deal is with collective pressure – get RWA or society group to pressurize them into being less intrusive. Otherwise get a large barrier to shut yourself off from them.
There are other ‘creative’ ways of dealing with them which I’m sure you’ll find on Reddit (multiple court cases, getting a dog to soil their entrance daily etc) but take those up only if you have the time and energy to deal with their reaction.

As you mentioned your neighbor are sh*t ppl. and from the sound of it they are unlikely to move (ergo they will stay your neighbor).No point in going down to their level and reward this behavior by responding.
Treat them as you would treat a stray dog. Put up a screen on that side of the Terrace that avoids them from spitting.
