I’m posting on behalf of my father, a **dentist in Ayodhya** who has been practicing for **over 20 years** in the same clinic where my **late grandfather** practiced for **30 years** before him—so together, **our family has been here 50+ years**. We’ve never dealt with anything this wild. Here’s the story:

        # 1. Backstory: 50+ Years in the Same Spot

        * My grandfather started a **dental clinic** in this building decades ago. He treated locals for **over three decades**, and my dad has continued that legacy for the last **20 years**.
        * The **building** was owned by a man who had **two daughters**. After his passing, each daughter inherited **half**. One daughter sold **her 50%** to my dad. We have the **registered sale deed, mutation papers (dakhil-kharij)**, and even the municipal corporation records showing my dad’s **legal ownership**.

        # 2. The Occupant: Unlawful, Stubborn, and Dramatic

        * The other half belongs to the **second daughter**, but **her husband** (let’s call him “the occupant”) has effectively taken over **our portion** too. He’s not the owner, yet **refuses to leave**.
        * He’s **extremely stubborn** and **not mentally stable** (in my opinion). He’s using **bribery** to sway local officers to his side, plus **threatening** everyone with dramatic behavior.
        * He was in a legal battle with the second daughter for a long time after their father’s death, as a result the daughter sold the property to my dad at a discount out of desperation. Even then he made a scene of filing FIRs, etc.

        # 3. Attempt at a Deal Gone Wrong

        * At one point, the occupant **signed a written agreement** (in the presence of the police) to give us the **back section** of the property while we continued to dispute the **front**.
        * The next day, he **didn’t** honor that. So my dad, feeling he had no choice, **tried to enter** that back portion by breaking the lock on the occupant’s shop door. That’s when it all exploded.

        # 4. The Day Everything Went Nuts

        * **Within minutes**, the occupant showed up with his **dad, mom, and wife**, yelling at my dad, calling him a thief, and demanding the police **arrest** him or **seal his clinic**.
        * The police also arrived at the scene when the occupant **filmed my dad** like he was the criminal. My **mom** tried to record what they were doing, but one **police officer took her phone** and **deleted the video** evidence of their behavior (she has the video in recently deleted files).
        * The occupant started **shouting** that he’d commit **atma dehen (self-immolation)** with his mom in front of the **Ram Mandir** if the police didn’t support him. That freaked the cops out. They basically pressured us into **handing the key back** to him. And guess what? He obviously never gave us that back portion we rightfully own.

        # 5. False Theft Allegations

        * The occupant then **sent a video** to a higher authority (**IG**), falsely claiming my dad **stole 5 lakh rupees worth of jewelry** from his store. The guy only sells **candies**, so there’s no truth to it whatsoever.
        * Luckily, the local police told the IG that the occupant was just **making things up**, so that accusation fell flat. But he’s **still** trying to get my dad in trouble somehow.

        # 6. Current Situation and Main Worries

        1. **Our Legal Standing**: We have all the **official paperwork**. The occupant has zero legal right to our half, yet is using **delays and bribes** to stay put.
        2. **Corrupt Local Officers**: Some officers are **clearly taking his side** (maybe from bribes or fear). They let him **delete our footage** and keep **filming us** in bad light.
        3. **Reputation**: My dad’s a **dentist** with a **50-year family legacy** of service. Now he’s being **publicly called a thief**, threatened with police action, and shown in videos as if he’s doing something criminal.
        4. **Emotional Manipulation**: The occupant repeatedly threatens **dramatic stunts**, like **self-immolation**, to get his way. It scares the authorities, who then shy away from helping us.
        5. **Avoiding a 10+ Year Battle**: We had a similar property dispute in the past that dragged on for **12 years**. We can’t afford another decade of stress, money, and time lost.
        6. I will be honest, we have also tried to bribe the police officers to fasten the process and this has worked in some or the other way, but it’s not as effective as we hope it would be.

        # 7. What We’re Hoping to Find

        * **Legal Advice**: How do we **enforce** our **legal rights** here in India when the other side relies on **bribery and dramatics**?
        * **Practical Tips**: Is there a way to **record** these incidents without losing evidence again? How do we **protect ourselves** from false theft allegations?
        * **Any Experience**: If you’ve gone through a **property dispute** with an occupant who acts irrationally—especially if they’re willing to **threaten self-harm**—what worked for you?
        * **Dealing with Local Police**: Suggestions on navigating **corruption** and ensuring our legitimate complaints **reach higher authorities** without interference?

Go ahead and match the bribe , the legal way is long and tardy.

We might wouldve bribed more than the occupant (2+ lakhs), the police seem to e cooperative of both parties, we offered them more bribe but they told us that they don’t need anymore, with what we have provided, they will take care of the situation.

Not trying to be political here , but everybody keeps saying the law and order has massively improved in UP.Still you keep seeing such sort of behaviour, rest of the country is also no better but really want to understand the ground situation.
