January 28, 2025 at 6:25 pmPosting on behalf of a friend: He currently has an offer of 12 lakhs from a consulting firm and is serving his notice period at his current company. Recently, he received a call from a Big 4 firm. During discussions with their HR, he mentioned having an offer of 14 lakhs and requested 16 lakhs fixed. He has been selected for the role at the Big 4. Do they typically ask for proof of the existing offer? If he edits the PDF of his current offer to show 14 lakhs instead of 12, is there a risk of detection or being blacklisted by companies? What are your suggestions on this?

January 28, 2025 at 6:44 pmGenerally, the Big 4 firms conduct background checks and request previous salary slips, experience certificates, and other relevant documents. If caught you will be blacklisted by the company for sure.-

January 28, 2025 at 7:13 pmSay you can’t share the offer letter with them even if they ask for it. Stay your ground and decline politely -

January 28, 2025 at 9:45 pmI don’t think they’ll ask for the offer in the first place. If they do ask, he can tell them that the other company had negotiated it to 12 before sending the offer letter, but he has not accepted the offer as it was too low.
