February 7, 2025 at 7:59 amSo, Due to the mistake of the school authority (CBSE) they entered my fathers name as, let say, “Manoj Prasad Sharma”, instead “Manoj Kumar Sharma”In rural central India almost all the parents write, “prasad” and that’s how they did this.
We objected and long long story but now 20 years later, in passport office, the officer saying, it will only go as, “Manoj Prasad Sharma”
Will there be any future problems in this? As my father’s correct name is …kumar… in there. In all of his documents, as well in my Adhaar.
And now it will be on my Passport as well.
What are the options I have?
To keep it as TRUE name, kumar. -

February 7, 2025 at 8:04 amYes. The only correct way.As far as I Googled about it. CBSE taking 4 to 6 months to correct these things in the marksheet once submitted application. And the charges are 2000rs per document.

February 7, 2025 at 8:07 amYes, it is going to be an issue. They create issues with a single letter missing, you have a whole word difference. You can provide your 12th certificate or other documents insisting on the correct name, or removing the middle name of your father can be your solution. But as it’s a passport office, you hardly have any much chance to talk.

February 7, 2025 at 8:25 amIt is essential that the particulars are same in all your documents. Even if father’ s name is incorrect, it is fine if it is the same everywhere.ยIt is relatively easy to correct father’s name in some documents, but almost impossible in documents like mark certificate. So better live with it.ย

February 7, 2025 at 9:05 amThere’s one way of correcting his name in marksheet via public notice in gazette. Check youtube and with a lawyer.-

February 7, 2025 at 9:20 amWhat is more frustrating is, many years back, when I received my 10th marksheet in physical form, I objected to two mistakes, “Manaj Prasad Sharma”1. Correct spelling of the name Manoj
2. Replace Prasad = Kumar
Upon requesting, they opened some OLD DOCUMENT saying, if these mistakes are there in that, then we cannot do anything, because that’s what is submitted by you only, when opened, it was as correct as it should be. Clearly your typist made a major mistake.
They sent it to the regional office, and some 4-5 months later received with only name spelling correction and not prasad replaced by kumar.
Their negligence, and I’m paying for it almost 15-16 years later.

February 7, 2025 at 10:24 amI can feel your pain. Have an appointment at RPO next month, for one letter difference in my Father’s name. Have submitted a gazette with name correction for both me and my father but I guess, some esteemed gentleman was busy to go through the documents submitted and raised an objection

February 7, 2025 at 6:24 pmHey! same case as mine. I carried an affidavit for the correct name but they rejected it. They asked for some other document with the correct name and I presented my college marksheet.-

February 7, 2025 at 6:29 pmLet’s see. I already came back from two appointments. This time that guy agreed and said bring any two documents with the correct father’s name, same in both.
Otherwise, he has no problem going with what’s in the 10th marksheet. But that’s wrong!

February 7, 2025 at 7:24 pmIf you happen to have a college degree or your 12th marksheet that should suffice. No need of using the 10th marksheet there.
Also, get that corrected from cbse in parallel. -

February 8, 2025 at 10:06 amAsk the passport office if your dad can make an affidavit saying that his name is manoj Kumar Sharma โฆ attach his ID proof and also mention that manoj Prasad Sharma was incorrectly mentioned as his name in your 10th std marksheet.
If this affidavit works it may save you the hassle and time that it will take to correct all your marksheets.
