February 12, 2025 at 9:30 amHi, so I (26F) have been getting completely stalked and harassed online by this dude who I met at my board games community. I hung out with him as friends with other friends as well way back in August – September after which he got obsessive. I made it very clear to him that I’m romantically not interested in him but he did not stop trying to pursue me. He’s completely delusional and says things like “in my head we are married” amongst other things. I ended up blocking him on every platform possible but he still doesn’t stop. It’s continuing to this very day in February, which is so many months later. He keeps reaching out to me through new numbers, new Instagram IDs and new email IDs. He even found my mom on Instagram and messaged a bunch of shit to her. I have kept screenshots and proof of everything. I have proof of very clearly telling him to stop trying to reach out to me or I’ll report him to the police. Nothing works. I am now planning on actually taking legal action because he’s ruining my mental peace with this behaviour. I have never done this before though, can someone please help me out as to what the procedure is? Also will it get messy to report him to the police? -

February 12, 2025 at 9:40 amAdvocate here,You can visit the nearest police station, explain the situation, and ask them to put some sense into him. They will call him to the station and handle it in their way. Additionally, you can file an NC against him, which will serve as evidence in case he doesn’t stop his actions and you need to proceed with filing an FIR. Another option is to consult an advocate and send him a cease-and-desist legal notice.

February 12, 2025 at 1:34 pmLaw isn’t about doing the worst to the other party; it’s about seeking justice and making sure they don’t repeat their actions.
In cases like this, involving the police is usually enough they’ll call him to the station, give him a serious warning, and if he’s being too much of a nuisance, they have their own ways of making him understand the gravity of the situation. A little ‘persuasion’ from them is often enough to set him straight, and after that, he wouldn’t dare try anything stupid again.

February 12, 2025 at 1:36 pmCan’t she tell him to stop and tell if you keep harasing me like that I will go legal on you and if he continues that then she can go legal on him. Does this work?-

February 12, 2025 at 9:51 amI’d say ask your friends to just bunch together and push and harass the crap outta that non-social person. That person would have no choice but to back off. Male friends hain toh aur bhi fun.Ask each of your friends to send multiple messages a day from their new/fake profiles.
Police are a great theory but weak implementation at best. You can, if they work well in your region.
There’s many steps that can be taken here before severe ones.

February 12, 2025 at 11:56 pmI’d buy a can of pepper spray and know how to use it. Just to be safe. NAL, just a citizen who has dealt with the popo and the justice (🤣) system. They leave a LOT of room for retribution and then hold up their hands like helpless chickens after the fact.
