March 25, 2025 at 3:08 pmI applied for my income certificate renewal at a cyber cafe on 8th Feb, paid ₹300 for online submission, and submitted documents at the office myself. It usually takes 2 weeks to a month. On 8th March, since it wasn’t renewed, the same guy (agent) said if I paid ₹3,000, he’d get it done in 2 days. I needed it urgently for a scholarship, so I paid. But since then, he’s been stalling, making excuses, and now he’s not picking up calls.
What can I do?
• Can I still get my certificate processed officially?
• Is there a way to get my money back?
• Would a police complaint help?
Any advice is appreciated!

March 25, 2025 at 3:17 pmYou do understand that the extra amount that he asked for was to bribe the officials like tehsildar and his chamchaas to get your work faster? You cannot go to police with this. And what is stopping you from visiting that cyber cafe and talk to the guy there and asking your money? As per your problem, I am assuming you are getting it done via a block office? Go there, get any agent, give him some money and he will get your document in one to two days.

March 25, 2025 at 5:26 pmYes. You can still get official income certificate. These brokers are everywhere for every document, some of them are real, some of them scams. It’s tough to distinguish between them.
Take it as learning lesson. Keep calling him. Visit Tehsildar and enquire there about certificate.
Whenever you approach any government office for any document or any work, there will always be people /broker who will tell you they can get things done if you pay some money. Be careful
