March 23, 2025 at 8:03 pmHello, me and my wife recently moved to a building and we have our car. At the time of moving here, we asked the security for the parking space but he refused saying that the society does not have enough spaces. But we could see many empty spaces there. For some background, the flat which we are living in is my mother-in-law’s flat. So she is the owner of the flat.
For some months we were parking our car outside the building because no one was allowing us to park inside and we were ok with that. However, recently we purchased a new car and we wanted a safe space inside the building instead of just parking outside.
So we did what any society member would do. We went to the secretary and asked him politely if we could park our car in the building corridor. First of all, he didn’t seem interested in listening to our request and he was judging us and didn’t respond really well. We were standing outside his house for the whole conversation, he didn’t offer us to come in or congratulate us for the achievement nothing of that sort. He is very rude mf which I will tell you ahead.
Also there is one uncle right in front of us, who owns a street cart for selling idlis. He parks this cart behind the building around the corridor. So if we were to park our car in corridor, it would block his cart to get in and out. But still we told the secretary that we would be happy to get up early in the morning and move our car around.
To this he said “Yes” and closed the door on our faces.
At the time when our car was delivered, a parking space was vacated since it’s owners were moving out. So security offered us that parking space. For context this is room no 302. So we parked our new car for 2 days on that spot. After that new tenants moved in and they wanted that spot of 302. We told security that it’s okay for them to park their car in their spot and we would park in the corridor and we did.
But then we saw another parking of room 305 was also empty so we went to the owner and requested them to lent us their parking and we would be paying rent for it.. To which they agreed. But the problem was our car was not fitting in that parking. (Also a background on 305, he only owns one parking and he illegally parks his car in another owners parking)
So we requested tenants of 302 to park in 305 spot and we would park in 302 like we did for the 2 days.
But their car would also not go in that spot.
Now here comes the twist, besides 305 parking there was parking of that cart uncle which was big enough to accommodate 302’s car and the cart uncle was only using it to park one 2 wheeler. So the person of 302 parked his car there and we did in 302 parking.
Seeing this, the secretary became furious. That we didn’t ask for his permission about all this.
First of all, he called 305 owner to ask him that why did he agree to offer us his parking?
After that he informed the cart uncle that we took his parking and he should force us to vacate it. To that the uncle came and he ordered us to move our car out of the building. He did not listen to us and was also not allowing us to park in the corridor. He told us that “Your car would not enter this building” like he owns the building. Dejected from all sides we had to remove our car and park on the road.
Also the secretary called our mom and gave false information about us that we were not behaving properly and we were shouting that “We will park here only. Do whatever you want”
It was not even a month and our car which was parked outside on the road was scratched badly and was also dented from the sides.
We called our mom i.e owner of the house to speak to this secretary and have a solution for it.
When she reached here, secretary was not at home, so she called him. He didn’t pick up the call. After some time like 15-20 mins she tried again, he didn’t pick up the call again. This went on for like 15-20 times. It was very clear that he was ignoring us.
When he reached home, she went to his house and again he didn’t invite any of us inside. He just told us to “Do whatever you want. Park wherever you want” and banged the door on our faces.
We then requested the cart uncle for his parking, but as he was friends with secretary he didn’t listen to our requests as well.
We started parking on the corridor as suggested by so called secretary.
But since it was blocking the get-in-out of the cart we had to move our car early in the morning around 6:30 which we did as well.
After some days, a neighbour of secretary parked the car where we were supposed to park in corridor. So we parked behind that car and moved our car early morning the next day.
But seeing this, mother of 305 owner complained only about us that it was inconvenient for her to walk in the corridor. For the context we have seen her walk she never walks in the corridor.
This then bought fire in the WhatsApp group and everyone started blaming us for this things. That we did illegal parking and it was our fault. We also wrote a letter to the society in which we have mentioned the wrong of the secretary and also mentioned that there are several parking available and it can be solved mutually. To this the secretary passed on the decision to the committee members and he raised his hands. He started laughing us in the chat and told us let the committee decide now. The committee only consists of secretary chairman and 305 owners who is also lying now for his mother.
No one listened to us and they told us that they would take legal actions against us.
So we again had to take our car out of the building in fear of this. Me and my wife both are working professionals and we don’t want to have this kind of implications.
But this bugs us a lot now and we have to park our car 15 mins away because of these people in the building and their monopoly.
Is there anything we can do. Any kind of advice is really appreciated.

March 23, 2025 at 9:09 pmOk from what I know all flats do come with their own parking space, isn’t this the case here? Doesn’t your flat have its allotted parking spot? If not you’re at the mercy of others.-

March 24, 2025 at 3:00 amWhy are you not parking in your own allotted parking space ? From what you describe , all the other owners seem to have one. If you don’t have one , you can’t really claim a right and will have to adjust based on what others allow. The other alternative is to act like a bahubali and fight with your neighbours.-

March 24, 2025 at 4:27 amI don’t think every owner has parking space. The problem is that they are not ready to give the parking space even if it is available in plenty

March 28, 2025 at 2:01 pmYes they are both, older and living for a long time. I think they want people to live by their rules and don’t want to listen to any requests as such. But yes thank you for your advise, it really helps a lot. I think I will have to butter up some people and ignore those arrogant ones-
