Person i took money from keeps threatening me with a police complaint

Hello, I had an overdue credit card from ICICI bank. The recovery agent offered to pay for me at that point then have me reimburse him later. For this, he paid my credit card interest, amount INR 29420, and had me write the following on a photocopy of my aadhar card, ‘i xxx, icici card no. Xxxx have taken rupees 29420 from anand. I will pay 14.5k on 31st and the remaining amount on 7th’.

I was unable to pay him on the aforementioned date as my salary was held back due to high number of sick leaves and me being unable to fulfil my target because of them. Now the person keeps threatening to file a police complaint against me. What i want to know is what can happen to me in this case.

Clear cut case of 420. You are a willful defaulter.
Depending on what state you are in this comes as a non-bailabke offense I’m haryana and uttarpradhesh.

Which means you have present a lawyer and apply for bail in the court.

Just why the heck you asked him to pay ? Are you serious ? You were in debt and now in more debt ?

For credit card they can’t do anything instead of requesting you. Happened with me . I settled in 1 years

Now when he took it in writing and paid on your behalf you have created a mess.

I am not a lawyer but please ask this from lawyer otherwise he may actually go to police

He created a lot of pressure and i panicked. I am in the middle of asking it from lawyer, at first they said no criminal case in civil matter, but now they are saying maybe he can file a case. I am panicking badly rn.

Nothing happens, don’t worry
It’s a civil matter.
Police can’t register FIR, but may unofficially threaten you by calling the police station.

Such adhar card writings are not valid, even to file a civil suit for recovery.

Request him to wait..

Else if he threatens you, that he will go to the police station, ask him to go and do whatever he can, nothing happens.

Don’t give any cheques, it will create criminal liability if bounced.
