February 2, 2025 at 7:08 amI had lent Rs 45,000 to a mutual of mine in March last year, and when I’m asking for the money back he threatened me to go file a police complaint or do whatever I want to because he has big contacts and that will not help me, after a lot of begging and blackmailing that I will post about it all over social media about him he agreed to return the amount to me by February first week and I made him send an official email to me regarding the same. And now as it’s time to return the money he has blocked my number and every number I’m calling from.
Please advise me on how to recover the money, as I really need the money right now. -

February 2, 2025 at 7:27 amNAL: If you have the above prrofs, you can file FIR under section 406 Breach of trsut , 420 fraud, 503/506 intimidation of IPC. Keep all the chats you have with him, if any. Even an FIR will melt his ego down a bit.

February 2, 2025 at 8:08 amBest for OP is to name and shame. Go to the “friend’s” house and involve the parents and show then the proof. That’s the best OP can do. Police can’t help in a civil matter.

February 2, 2025 at 7:29 amThe money is gone. You will need to spend a considerable amount of time and money if you go the legal route to recover the amount. If you know people who can recover the funds through alternative means – consider that as an option. If you are lucky you may get 50-75% back. Just remember that these are people who can be very unpleasant to deal with in every way. -

February 2, 2025 at 7:38 ammoney is gone, & in what circumstances did u give the loan ? Only give loan of an amount that you are okay to lose. And never give the full amount.. that they ask for-

February 2, 2025 at 8:22 amThis. I learnt the hard way that while lending money to anyone including family and friends, we should only lend the amount that we are comfortable to lose.

February 2, 2025 at 8:12 am22M here , and something similar happened to me. Around 1 lakh was left with my former friend (now an enemy haha). I gave him 3x that amount, and after 4 months of constant begging, he returned 2 of it, but thereβs still 1 pending. Itβs been 1.5 years now. Tbh, I have connections and have consulted lawyers and police officers, but in the end, I realized it would just be a waste of time, effort, and money. So I decided to take it as a lesson for the future. Honestly, I had a feeling when I lent him the money that he might not return it, and it turned out to be true. But mark my words, Iβll settle the score with him later in life I wonβt let him get away with betraying my trust.-

February 3, 2025 at 9:22 amAlso hide his mobile and wallet just where you left him. So when he tracks his phone it shows his place and you can say that he himself hid them and blaming you. So when he wants to retrieve them he should go all the way around.-

February 2, 2025 at 3:40 pmJust visit the Economic Cell with all your proofs. It’s usually located in the SP office of your city. They will take a written complaint from you and issue a summons to him at his parents’ address (just mention that address in the complaint). In most cases, they resolve such matters in a single meeting, especially since the amount is small. Do this as soon as possible to get your money back quickly. -

February 2, 2025 at 3:44 pmIf you have bank transfers details, like bank to bank or UPI, then get hold of a lawyer. If itβs hand cash, you can write it off as a bad debt and forget about it. Lesson learnt! -
