February 17, 2025 at 1:20 pmThis morning, my sister lost her phone in Bengaluru and reported it to the police. Thankfully, by evening, they found it. But when she went to the station to collect it, the police demanded a couple of thousand rupees! No receipt, no official reason—just a blatant demand for money. We are not natives of Karnataka, and since my sister is alone there, I don’t want her to get into any trouble. We just want a safe way to handle this. Has anyone else faced this? What’s the best way to report it without putting her at risk? Any advice would be really helpful.

February 17, 2025 at 9:40 pmSome police are shameless. Once I went to lodge a complaint accompanied by a soldier returning from Kargil. He was in army uniform. Police wanted money from him! -

February 18, 2025 at 12:09 amI would suggest you to pay that money and take the phone cuz sometimes these are just some cheap tricks by police and some gangs to earn money and if you say something then you may face problems and as you told she’s alone there so…safety over money anyday!! -

I wonder why people don’t enable auto call recording for unknown numbers by default.
