MThey can’t force you to come without a proper legal notice. Ask them to send official notice (CrPC 41A) if there’s a real case. It might just be a scare tactic stay calm.

Their full name, badge number, and station address.-

MI’m sure he’s not a real police officer they’re just messing with you. They probably want to scam you out of 500₹. Don’t send a single penny. If they call again, tell them to send you a legal notice if they want you to appear in another city.

RWell I told them to send complaint to my nearest police station they said it was me who did the bad thing and started scolding me and said to come to the station also when I told the guy to cancel the complaint he told me officer is asking 500 rupees to cancel the complaint

MAsk him to send over WhatsApp (they already have his number) and confirm with the police station itself if it’s genuine or not. Or atleast ask him his name and station. Don’t keep falling for it without any proof

MIf he can’t provide his full name and the station he’s from, then he’s not a real cop. They’re probably just having fun messing with you. Take a breath and try to stay calm.

PEven if the guy calling you is genuinely a police officer, he will be threatening you in an unofficial capacity. Tell him you will not speak unless they send you an official notice, and whatever response will be given will be by your lawyer (bluff, no need to get one unless they actually send a notice)
Highly likely the guy asked his friend to give you a scare and extort you. Don’t entertain.

They will not send copy of complaint. If FIR is lodged asked them to send copy of FIR. Ask them to send you notice or summons to appear before the concerned police station. Then only you will appear and also inform them you are recording the call.
Also ask for the police station they are from and call the police station to inquire or let me know, I’ll go and confirm.

RThanks to the fellow redditors I think it’s the scam when I asked her for badge number she got pissed and I said I’ll come to your station but first send me your badge no for confirmation then she got pissed and told me to first send my adhaar card and permanent address so she will send noticed butbwhen i started arguing she cutted the call

SExactly. The moment you appear scared to that scammer they start winning. You did good. Next time if she calls, you tell her that you are recording the call. Enjoy seeing her shitting her pants right there.

SNAL. You should continue with your day. They are scammers. A police will never call you to come to a certain police station. They will send you the official notice to be present in XYZ police station. Also, if they call you again, ask for their name, badge number. Then tell them your lawyer will contact them and cut the call.

MBhai,sorry to say, but jab itni fat ti hai toh gali hin kyun bake first time? Everyone is telling you it is a scam and telling you how to handle it legitimately by insisting on FIR copy but you keep saying you are scared. You should then avoid getting into such situations. Sabke bas ki baat nahi hoti gali bakna and then handle the possible fallouts.
