UHi, I’m 21M. On 3/03/25 – 3rd March. I was travelling from college to home with my friends, with 2 of my sister’s they were not drunk while 2 of us were drunk.
I had 53 points and my friend 123 points. I was the passenger and he was the driver. As police stopped I simply got down first, went around and asked my friend to let me deal with this. The police officer came to me and slapped me tightly as l raised my voice he slapped me again and asked me to SHUT MY MOUTH OR HE WILL HIT ME MORE. Another police officer came in and filmed 2 of my friends (women) like it was a fucking raid then harassed us for 4 hours.
While he dint file any kind of complaint or anything.
Just a Dnd challan. My question is what right does he have to come up and slap multiple times and record videos of women without consent? Then get away with it ? I feel really depressed with this incident. I posted a tweet. Requesting all of you guys to help and give me voice. The police will definitely act on it.

UI hate police men, had multiple incidents with them since childhood. i hit few before. But I learnt that I can’t get them punished if I was also at wrong !

NHere’s the answer. You clearly have a history. The cops probably know about you and you antics from before.
I have always been against police brutality. It’s a terrible plague in Indian society.
But between you/your friend claiming innocent lives on the road vs. the police beating the absolute crap out of you, if I HAD to, I’d choose the latter.
You’re a criminal that has gotten away without a murder charge. So far. Next time, you might not be so lucky. Fix your life.

SMuch is missing in your story.
Why did the altercation with the police person start ?
What compelled you to raise your voice?
Who was driving the car ?
Was the driver drunk when driving?
How is being with your sister/lady friend relevant in this issue ?
I am an advocate and in my experience, Police don’t resort to beating in the first instance of seeing anyone, unless there’s a past history. What exactly aren’t you telling us Op ?
Also, you’re pretty young and you boast of beating on-duty (presumably) police personnel, which is a cognizable offence in itself.

UThe driver was my friend. The driver was drunk, I was drunk and the women we’re not. The police officer came Infront of the vehicle to stop us. My friend drunk got the car aside. While all this he was already accusing us of budging the car into him and getting away.
So, as he stopped by. I got out from my passenger seat. went around and told my friend that let me deal with him. He heard it. Came to me slapped me hard immediately. Thats when I actually came in contact with him. I raised my voice asking why did you hit me? he hit me once again and said ” I will hit you more ” if you raise your voice.
The relevance of filming women comes into place because the police people call up my mom, said that our car which was taken by the police will not be returned easily because I posted a tweet about this incident and the police with play around with us. Hence, made me delete the post.
And before you call me that I boast about beating on-duty police personnel, you might as well ask about that has happened during those incidents as well.
I was hit by another police officer for recording his abusive language against my friend. He slapped me immediately after seeing me recording him. After which I made a scene on the road. then 2 officers stopped a vehicle by, took me inside, choked me, punched multiple times in my tummy and almost suffocated me and that’s when I hit them both without thinking about anything.-
PSince you guys were driving while under the influence of alcohol, I’m unable to muster up any sympathy for your plight. What happened wasn’t right legally, but I still feel you got what was coming to you for driving while drunk. Ideally the driver should have received that treatment, but since you wanted to handle it, you got it handed to you. 🤣

Udefinitely that will be there. I know my mistake very well. but you think physical abusing the solution to this? I don’t think I deserved that kind of a treatment. All he had to do was cut a challan and move on? what was the need to create a ruckus over dnd situation and harass us for hours and physically abuse the passenger?

PA challan hardly seems appropriate considering you guys could have caused the death of those very “passengers” you claim were harassed, and also possibly innocent bystanders, not to mention you and your friend as well. You getting beaten imo was letting you off the hook easy. Again, zero sympathy from me.

EPlease as a female, don’t drink and go in public. You have full right to but India is not a safe place for women and I don’t want anything to happen to you. Also since you were drunk you must have been doing or saying something that caused this to happen. Again, cops were wrong. Either way please be safe and when you are drunk don’t go outside.

DThe police did the right thing, OP. If you and your friend don’t care about your own lives, so be it, but don’t drink and drive and endanger others on the road. Take it as a life lesson. LOL.

UEven if he was driving drunk, which he wasn’t, police officers still shouldn’t hit him. I hate how we indians don’t take this police assaulting civilians or even criminals seriously. They have no right to do so, it’s so normalized that nobody thinks twice about it, but this could have been you. It’s super unfair.

ULet’s not ignore the part where they were driving drunk, them possibly dying, or the innocent sober women (which OP claims) in their car could be killed, even WORSE they could kill someone innocent under the influence. There’s too many if here, solely because they were drunk driving. Getting beat is the best case scenario for these people, if the police really wanted to, they could do worse.

RYou’ve got a tough crowd here, brother, as people generally don’t show any sympathy towards people who drive drunk or, in your case, have a friend who is driving drunk. That said, you are correct in assuming that a cop shouldn’t thrash you, in fact, ethically speaking, no one should unless they are protecting themselves or another. And technically speaking, you did nothing wrong other than having poor judgement in your friendships.
Legally speaking, it’s not advisable to pursue something like this when you are a part of something where people are doing something illegal. People would pretty easily justify a cops use of physical force in situations like this and there’s just no way around it in India.

UAre you seriously attempting to garner sympathy after driving under the influence? The cops shouldn’t have raised their hands, but it seems like a major chunk of the story is missing. Why would the passenger exit the car and raise their voice when they’re clearly in the wrong? This is exactly what’s wrong with traffic in our country. People breaking the law, endangering the lives of others, acting like douchebags when caught and then pretending to be the victims.

CThey could hv charged him with obstruction to justice then … Way better than physical retailiation.

UOh I totally wouldn’t mind the cops abusing their power in DUI cases.
I’d rather have 100 such drunk drivers whacked by the cops than 1 guy getting hit by their car. -

USo glad you got beat, in fact they should have detained your ass in the police station and given the special belt treatment there too. What do you expect with the post here?
Driving under the influence where you could possibly kill yourself, or even WORSE the innocent people on the streets. It didn’t happen but there were chances that it could. Haven’t you already heard about the frequent drunk driving cases you get in news?

UAll those comments along the lines of “you got what you deserve” are the reason why things are the way they are. People are ready to accept police violence as normal, if they feel the reason is justified. The police is supposed to enforce the law and not become law themselves. He didn’t get what he deserved with those slaps. There are penalties and punishments defined in law and he exactly deserved those. Nothing more.
Even if someone commits murder, the police is not supposed to hit them. The police is supposed to arrest them, present them to court and execute the punishment awarded. -

It’s people like you who end up killing some poor person walking on the side of the road, just because you want to save that 500-1000 rupees it takes to get a driver to drive you home.Y’all deserve to get whacked in my view.

GYou can’t. First of all, the driver could go to jail. You’re lucky the police didn’t impound the vehicle. And yes because of the severity of the crime (Ive lost family to drunk drivers and you can’t claim that it was a minor offence) they’re bound to be stern. Second, there’s no way to corroborate your story as they could claim you tried to interfere and stop them from performing their duty. The recording is wrong yes but they won’t do anything with it, probably delete it by the end of the week. Cops have started recording people who they think will create some problems.
While it’s unfortunate what happened to you, it wouldn’t have happened if you guys followed the law.
