Bad advice. If the wife supports the husband here she can easily file a false rape case under S 376

And even if this friend gets acquitted, case will drag on for years, he will likely face some time in jail and will have to spend a ton of bribes, court and lawyer fees. Likely lose his job and reputation as well. Not to mention the mental load of everything

Your friend messed up and now has to face the consequences. It maybe a pre planned thing by husband and wife to extort money ( there are many such incidents happening in India). Law is not going to save men.
I’m sorry but there is nothing your friend can do in this. If he tries to go legally then the wife might get involved and threaten your friend with false cases which will infact ruin his entire life. Only option is to try and talk to them.

i hope your friend comes out of this.

I am not a lawyer but as per 2018 supreme court of India has struck down extra marital affair in sec 497 so your friend didn’t do anything illegal and can complain against the blackmailer.

Want to ask a follow up question, what is the husband using to blackmail your friend?

Adultery is no longer a crime, so your friend is legally safe. Ask him to ignore the husband’s communications.

There is an entire racket that runs like this. The husband himself would be a pimp and it’s part of the plan.

Block numbers, deactivate socials for a month and ignore. Nothing will happen.

sound like they are extorters and you have been framed. Probably they are similar cases registered in the Police station they might be able to book them.

PS: Since it is Indian police it better to go with someone who knows the police there , otherwise they just might dismiss you or made fun of you.
