February 24, 2025 at 4:37 pmThere was some discussion in our society whatsapp group regarding children playing in corridors and creating disturbance. So, one of the member posted the pic/video of a kid playing in whatsapp group and made some derogatory remarks on the kid and his parents calling them mannerless, careless. can the parents of the child take any legal action on the person who posted their kid’s pic in public forum? -

February 25, 2025 at 2:05 amNAL.So you’re saying there’s a legal loophole here ?
Get a group of 16-18 aged minors to attack people for money in no CCTV areas. since their victims can’t record the minors because it would be illegal without their parents consent, there can be no possible evidence of their crime.
To get the parents consent, victims would have to ask their attackers for their parents details, contact them and ask for consent. I’m sure their attackers will wait for the victim to do all this and I’m sure the attackers parents will give the consent if it means their kids can be arrested.
Speaking of CCTV, so if anyone installs CCTV where video is recorded and they see any minor in the video, they would have to stop recording and ask their parents for permission to record further ?
From what I’ve read on this sub, the law is you can’t record someone where they are having a reasonable expectation of privacy. For example if you can see someone inside their own home and you record them it would be illegal. Do correct me if I’m wrong.

February 24, 2025 at 7:27 pmHad this incident happened 40 years ago, he would have whacked the kids himself to get them to behave.20 years ago he would have himself shouted at them and made them leave.
Now he cannot shout at them and kids being kids will not stop. What is the civil way to deal with it? He doesn’t even know the parents so he can reach out to them personally.
I hope the building management come up with a framework to deal with such issues.

February 24, 2025 at 9:16 pmHe recorded a video and uploaded it to a common group. I am sure the parents would have straight away denied any responsibility had there been no evidence.Of course you can’t hit kids.

Just curious… were the kids indeed causing a disturbance ? Can other residents have reasonable expectation of not being subjected to a disturbance. Did the photos outrage the modesty or invade the privacy of the subjects in any way ? Certainly it was wrong to share in a group rather than make a complaint to the society, but before escalating it into a legal matter (which doesn’t help anyone – people forget that the petitioner/complainant also needs to run around the court system) it sometimes helps to take our own egos out of the equation and look at it from the other persons perspective. -

February 25, 2025 at 3:01 amIn my building, 2 “kids” (actually teens) were found vandalising property, daring each other to cause the most damage to playground equipment. One elderly resident took a video from her balcony and shared. Is that also unethical? I’m conflicted. -
