        Hey everyone,

I was just curious about something I’ve seen mentioned a few times here – the validity of pre-nuptial agreements for weddings in Goa.

My question is: **Does this validity apply to** ***anyone*** **who gets married in Goa, or is it only for couples who are actually residents of Goa?**

I know a lot of people are choosing Goa for destination weddings these days, and it got me wondering if this pre-nup situation has anything to do with that trend.

Any insights or clarification on this would be greatly appreciated! Just trying to understand the legal landscape a bit better.

        Thanks in advance!

Yes a prenuptial agreement is considered valid in Goa under the Portuguese Civil Code

No couples don’t get married in Goa for prenuptial agreement, they do so because they are rich and it makes one hell of a view

You simply have to execute the contract in Goa.

Please note that although Pre-nuptials are considered valid under PCC, their enforceability in court is not guaranteed.

Prenups are often dismissed around the world in case of divorce cases simply because the circumstances that warranted the prenups in the first place may not be relevant anymore as the marriage between a husband and wife progresses.

Marriages are dynamic especially with relation to marital assets.

You simply cannot say that X item belongs to husband because husband has paid for it without checking whether husband was able to pay for it because the wife was handling other expenses.

So tread carefully with prenups as they are not the be all end all that many men think they can be
