EI received my Tatkaal passport 10 days ago, but my police verification is still pending.
I tried calling the RPO Chandigarh — but the line is always busy. I also called PSK Ambala — they told me to call RPO only.
I have already emailed the RPO and also filed a grievance on the Passport Seva website.
I even called my local police station, and they said they **haven’t received my verification file yet** from the back-end.
Has anyone else faced this situation recently?
How long after grievance filing did your verification happen?

Ebecause without verifiication the passport can be rejected and i want to go on a trip and if verification came then it will just be a hassle

NUsually in Tatkal scheme you get the passport first then police verification. Now in your case there must be some kind of lag. The best you can do is visit SP/DSP office and explain your situation and about the upcoming trip. It’s might help you. Because you’ve already emailed RPO, field grievances and might tweeted also.

SThe same thing happened with my daughter’s infant passport, i got a call after the passport was out for delivery.

SOp if not mistaken, the verification can also be done via neighbours. A police person had visited us (twice at different times) and asked us questions about both our neighbours when they had applied for their passports.
What I believe is, if they don’t ask you by visiting ur house, they verify the same via neighbours..check with them if they were asked about you. Good luck..

SBhai don’t worry at all I have travellers three countries post I got my Tatkal passport and my police verification is not done and I have faced zero issues while on the other hand my father got a call after someone to get the police verification done. In my opinion not just wait for them to call you else you really don’t have to get the police verification done.

EYou got the passport you don’t need further verification tbh you can fly out of the country unless you have a an active case on your name which limits you to travel.
the most police will do is verify your address and submit criminal record if any which delays and at worse case cancels your passport (extremely unlikely)

BLocal police don’t have the power to cancel a passport, all passports are property of the central government (MEA).
They might threaten to cancel your passport because they’ve missed out on their “chai pani” but in reality there’s very little they can do other than harass you – They’d need to file an FIR, then get a local government prosecutor to file a petition in your closest state High Court to get your passport cancelled.

UWhen applying for passport, there are 2 types of verification, pre and post, which the passport officer selects when approving application. For Tatkal passport, usually the passport is sent before and verification happens afterwards.
Your passport is valid and can be used to travel immediately, just wait for verification officer to call you. Can take week or two. If you still haven’t received any update, try visiting police station where your file is sent.

SFor tatkaal the verification happens later (not always but mostly). You ll be contacted by the person in charge of verification from the nearest police station (nearest wrt to the address in ur passport). If you don’t hear back from them in 15 days you can reach out to the FRO/FRRO dept in the police headquarters- they are in charge of the overall verification process.

BOh buddy! You’re in for a treat. I had gotten my Tatkal reissue passport within 5 days and I flew out the next day. 10 days into my trip, my family sent me a photo of a letter from the Passport Control Department stating I have failed at the Police verification. Somehow, nobody bothered to even call me or drop by my house for verification. P.S. my phone was on roaming while I was travelling and there was my family staying at my place too.
It’s been over 6 months now and tho I travel to my city every week, I’ve been unable to make it to the walk in appointments to have the Show cause notice cleared. I can only recommend you to keep following up with the local PS.
Although I have not faced an issue flying in and out of the country, my team who handled the Tatkal mentioned, I’ll have to get it rectified at the earliest to avoid another Show cause letter. 2 or 3 show cause letter could cause a problem when you try to fly out or fly back in after.

SPassport verification after Tatkal is not immediate, in my case it was a month or so after the passport was issued. A Tatkal Passport is very much valid right when you received it, I had a US visa approved before the verification.
Passport getting declined over police verification is very rare unless the cops find you have some criminally sus issues. There’s nothing to worry over it.
