Refusal of payment at internship

Nearly 2 months back I stared as intern in the one of the top govt institutes like IIT. I was asked to assist in one of their project. After joining I found out that I had to work on entire project web development. With early enthusiasm I started working and made a version of the product. But after even after one month when I asked about my salary the office people told me that my lab hasn’t informed them of me joining. My onboarding was done after one month. And the payment of that still hasn’t been made. The office staff said that I would be provided 2 months of payment at end of March. Earlier the internship period was of 3 months and I no longer intend to continue as this was not what I expected and very far away from what I was communicated before joining. When I communicated this to them they told me that you can not leave despite informing 15 days in advance. I’m fearing that they will not provide my payment of work done earlier.
What should I do ?

Delete everything you have done in web development and abscond.

Couldn’t cause they have version control and they will get the access anyhow.
