January 24, 2025 at 5:27 pmI was scammed of ₹91,000 by a so-called flat broker I found through MagicBricks. He claimed this amount was a refundable deposit for visiting charges but collected it through multiple transactions. The scammer contacted me using two different phone numbers, posing as both the property owner and the broker, though it’s likely the same person.I made the payments via PhonePe from Axis Bank to a DCB account belonging to a third individual. The scammer even shared their bank account details, Aadhaar card, and PAN card to gain my trust.
Once I realized it was a scam, I filed a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Portal. The police have lodged an FIR and instructed the bank to freeze the account. However, they’ve informed me that I need to hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit to initiate the process of recovering my money.
Could anyone guide me on how to find a reliable lawyer for this case? Additionally, what are the realistic chances of getting my money back? If anyone has gone through a similar situation, your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Any tips or resources would mean a lot.
Thank you! -

January 24, 2025 at 9:43 pmVisiting charges of 91k? Was this the most expensive apartment in India?
I recently refused to pay 200 rupees visiting charge. It’s a very shady & short sighted way of doing business.
